It couldn't have been
more than a week that I was photographing
Shea in Flint. She said her father
sent her something. And it's a picture of
her at the age of 12, taking her first sip of water
from a freshwater spring on the land where
her father lives in Mississippi, with a message that said, "This water won't kill you.
Come home." And so she makes the
decision to leave her mother and make the reverse migration
back to the South, where her father lives, on land that his family
has always owned. Oh wow!

It couldn't have been
more than a week
00:00:02.458 --> 00:00:05.005
that I was photographing
Shea in Flint.
00:00:05.583 --> 00:00:07.625
She said her father
sent her something.
00:00:09.208 --> 00:00:12.083
And it's a picture of
her at the age of 12,
00:00:12.167 --> 00:00:16.002
taking her first sip of water
from a freshwater spring
00:00:16.125 --> 00:00:20.002
on the land where
her father lives in Mississippi,
00:00:21.417 --> 00:00:23.002
with a message that said,
00:00:23.125 --> 00:00:25.075
"This water won't kill you.
Come home."
00:00:27.005 --> 00:00:31.208
And so she makes the
decision to leave her mother
00:00:31.292 --> 00:00:35.075
and make the reverse migration
back to the South,
00:00:35.833 --> 00:00:37.458
where her father lives,
00:00:37.542 --> 00:00:41.333
on land that his family
has always owned.
00:00:41.417 --> 00:00:44.000
Oh wow!
He's gotten so much bigger.
