I imagine that when Richard Glenton
first got the keys to this house, this would have been the room
that he was most excited to see. There were catalogues at the time,
just like this one, and because Richard was the first
owner of this house he would have had the chance to have
selected the cornicing and the other decorative features. And the whole idea was to make
rooms like this into statements about their owners, about their refinement
and their taste. The plaster cornicing would have
been elaborately ornate... ..with a ceiling rose
in a matching style. And there would have been
a fireplace, too. Marble, I'd imagine

I imagine that when Richard Glenton
first got the keys to this house,
00:00:05.008 --> 00:00:08.006
this would have been the room
that he was most excited to see.
00:00:08.006 --> 00:00:11.028
There were catalogues at the time,
just like this one,
00:00:11.028 --> 00:00:14.056
and because Richard was the first
owner of this house
00:00:14.056 --> 00:00:17.096
he would have had the chance to have
selected the cornicing
00:00:17.096 --> 00:00:20.998
and the other decorative features.
00:00:20.998 --> 00:00:22.092
And the whole idea was to make
rooms like this
00:00:22.092 --> 00:00:25.032
into statements about their owners,
00:00:25.032 --> 00:00:27.096
about their refinement
and their taste.
00:00:30.072 --> 00:00:34.024
The plaster cornicing would have
been elaborately ornate...
00:00:37.012 --> 00:00:39.036
..with a ceiling rose
in a matching style.
00:00:41.076 --> 00:00:43.084
And there would have been
a fireplace, too.
00:00:43.084 --> 00:00:45.999
Marble, I'd imagine.
