I start a search for the mystery
musical neighbour from the ground-floor flat. The electoral roll reveals his name,
Mark Merino. A native of Merseyside, of dual
English and Spanish Basque heritage. Although it's listed in an old phone
directory from 1993, Mark's restaurant no longer exists. But then, I track down Mark's
younger sister, Miranda, who agrees to meet me. My brother spent a bit of time
living down in London in the early '80s, and then he
moved back up to Liverpool - Falkner Street...
and started the tapas bar
