What I haven't been able to find is
a single advertisement that leads me to believe that Dobell & Son
were still operating, that they were still trading
throughout the 1920s or the 1930s. And what that leads me to believe
is that the company
failed to diversify, and they continued to try to make
traditional saddles and harnesses in the traditional way, and that by the time Fanny died
in 1934, there wasn't a company to leave
to her eldest son. And if that's the case, it is a really sad end
to a proud Liverpool company and a sad end for a proud
Liverpool family, who lived in 62 Falkner Street
for 45 years, longer than any other family

What I haven't been able to find is
a single advertisement that leads me
00:00:04.092 --> 00:00:07.006
to believe that Dobell & Son
were still operating,
00:00:07.006 --> 00:00:11.016
that they were still trading
throughout the 1920s or the 1930s.
00:00:11.016 --> 00:00:14.008
And what that leads me to believe
is that the company
failed to diversify,
00:00:14.008 --> 00:00:19.004
and they continued to try to make
traditional saddles and harnesses
00:00:19.004 --> 00:00:20.072
in the traditional way,
00:00:20.072 --> 00:00:23.028
and that by the time Fanny died
in 1934,
00:00:23.028 --> 00:00:26.998
there wasn't a company to leave
to her eldest son.
00:00:26.998 --> 00:00:27.028
And if that's the case,
00:00:27.028 --> 00:00:30.072
it is a really sad end
to a proud Liverpool company
00:00:30.072 --> 00:00:33.056
and a sad end for a proud
Liverpool family,
00:00:33.056 --> 00:00:37.024
who lived in 62 Falkner Street
for 45 years,
00:00:37.024 --> 00:00:39.999
longer than any other family.
