What it says at the beginning of my confession is true enough. I did indeed come
from the north of Ireland. Though I thought it very unjust when they wrote down that
"both of the accused" "were from Ireland
by their own admission." That made it sound like a crime, and I don't know that being
from Ireland is a crime, although I have often
seen it treated as such. But our family were Protestants, and that is different. We left Ireland
with little warning. My father was English and, while in Ireland,
he got into the company of some Orangemen
of bad reputation, and there was a house burnt down of a Protestant gentleman that had taken the side
of the Catholics. Get on. Be quick about it

What it says at the beginning
00:00:02.068 --> 00:00:03.736
of my confession is true enough.
00:00:04.941 --> 00:00:06.977
I did indeed come
from the north of Ireland.
00:00:07.479 --> 00:00:08.691
Though I thought it very unjust
00:00:08.715 --> 00:00:10.884
when they wrote down that
"both of the accused"
00:00:10.919 --> 00:00:12.822
"were from Ireland
by their own admission."
00:00:13.057 --> 00:00:14.926
That made it sound like a crime,
00:00:14.961 --> 00:00:17.197
and I don't know that being
from Ireland is a crime,
00:00:17.232 --> 00:00:19.101
although I have often
seen it treated as such.
00:00:20.973 --> 00:00:23.002
But our family were Protestants,
00:00:23.002 --> 00:00:24.378
and that is different.
00:00:27.118 --> 00:00:28.854
We left Ireland
with little warning.
00:00:29.991 --> 00:00:31.793
My father was English
00:00:31.828 --> 00:00:33.054
and, while in Ireland,
he got into the company
00:00:33.564 --> 00:00:35.266
of some Orangemen
of bad reputation,
00:00:36.236 --> 00:00:37.381
and there was a house burnt down
00:00:37.405 --> 00:00:38.539
of a Protestant gentleman
00:00:38.574 --> 00:00:40.243
that had taken the side
of the Catholics.
