is that true believer, the person who becomes a fanatic,
whether on the right or the left, uh, is the person who feels that
his or her own life is so meaningless that it has no weight in the universe. They're embarrassed about themselves,
they feel guilty about how small and worthless
and meaningless their lives are, and the only way
they can feel themselves bigger or to have a place in the world is to
attach themselves sort of fanatically uh, to a certain kind of extreme idea
