The partition in August 1947 saw the British Indian empire
split in two, mostly along religious lines. Pakistan was intended
to be the Muslim homeland. India, intended for Hindus and Sikhs. It was a recipe for trouble. Partition triggered one of
the largest migrations in human history. Muslims trekked to West
and East Pakistan, later Bangladesh. Millions of Hindus went the other way. A hastily drawn border cut families, farms
and communities in two. Between one and two million people
died in the process. It would be just a total renewal
of whites as a people
