Here, in the 15th century, the Aztecs built a remarkable network
of garden terraces and pools fed by cleverly constructed aqueducts that carried water down
from a reservoir at the mountain's top. It's like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon,
Mesoamerican style. But intriguingly, from my investigations, all of it was dedicated
to the same ancient god associated with
the earliest pyramid at Cholula... Tlaloc, the god of rains and floods,
whose cult long predated the Aztecs. Archaeologists believe that the Aztecs were the first
