Bobbi Campbell:
Now for years and years and years people in my hometown were telling me I was a freak because of my sexual orientation, until I came to San Francisco, and I found a community of freaks just like me. We stood together. We stood together! And it took a long time. But we finally forced this one tiny spot of the universe, the Castro, to realise that how we choose to have sex, and where, is our own damn business. Which to all other people who haven't gone through what we've gone through sounds funny and they may laugh, but I know speaking for most of us, I would rather die as a human being than continue living as a freak. Dr. Mervyn Silverman:
Clearly there's a lot of strong feeling on the subject... Voice in the crowd:
What good is all the gay rights in the world if we are all dead?

For years and years and years
00:00:03.583 --> 00:00:07.833
people in my hometown were telling me I was a freak
00:00:07.833 --> 00:00:10.042
because of my sexual orientation
00:00:10.042 --> 00:00:12.075
until I came to San Francisco
00:00:12.075 --> 00:00:16.025
and I found a community of freaks just like me
00:00:16.025 --> 00:00:17.075
cheers and applause
00:00:17.075 --> 00:00:21.084
We stood together We stood together
00:00:21.084 --> 00:00:22.959
And it took a long time
00:00:22.959 --> 00:00:26.125
but we finally forced this one tiny spot of the universe
00:00:26.125 --> 00:00:27.542
the Castro
00:00:27.542 --> 00:00:30.075
to realize that how we choose to have sex and where
00:00:30.075 --> 00:00:32.875
is our own damn business
00:00:32.875 --> 00:00:35.625
cheers and applause
00:00:35.625 --> 00:00:38.125
Which I know to people who haven't gone through
00:00:38.125 --> 00:00:39.917
what we've gone through sounds funny
00:00:39.917 --> 00:00:41.125
and they may laugh
00:00:41.125 --> 00:00:44.333
But I know speaking for most of us
00:00:44.333 --> 00:00:46.959
I would rather die as a human being
00:00:46.959 --> 00:00:49.625
than continue living as a freak
00:00:49.625 --> 00:00:52.833
cheers and applause
00:00:54.291 --> 00:00:56.708
Clearly there's a lot of strong feeling on this subject
00:00:56.708 --> 00:00:58.208
What good is all the gay rights in the world
00:00:58.208 --> 00:00:59.667
if we're all dead
