in 2012 as transgender, um, Joan was one of the first people
to contact me to just say, like, "Hey, you know,
if you need a friend or someone to talk to,
I'm here." ♪ Well, now,

it meant a lot to me, you know, that there were few people that
I felt like I could relate to at that time and few people
that, you know, I felt like I had any kind
of shared experiences with, not just, like,
being in a band but when you're talking
about gender fluidity. ALL:
♪ Androgynous ♪ ♪ Closer than you know,
Love each other so ♪ MICHAEL: I know she championed
for women's causes and LGBTQ causes,
and that's all great, but I don't think
she's mushy about it. ALL:

about it
