Diabelli Variations is that Diabelli sends out this rather silly waltz that he composed to most of the composers of the day, asking them to contribute one
variation, and he wanted to publish
the whole set together. PIANO CONTINUES Beethoven, of course,
refuses to do that, ends up writing 33 variations
of his own, and in the process creates perhaps the greatest piano piece ever
written
