The date is May 7th, 1824. Beethoven hasn't premiered
a symphony in 12 years, and, finally, it's going to be
the premiere of this Ninth Symphony. This is the happening of the decade. Everyone is there -
all the important people, all the politicians,
all the benefactors - and Beethoven comes out. By this time, he is completely deaf, but he wants so much to be involved. He's the creator. The conductor that prepared it said, "Listen, musicians, no matter what,
don't look at Beethoven."
