Denny Crane:
I don't know whether you know this but not many men take the time, every day, to have a cigar, glass of scotch, to talk to their best friend. That's not something most men have. Alan Shore:
No it isn't. Denny Crane:
What I give to you, what I share, I do with no one else. I like to think that what you give to me you do with nobody else. Now that may sound silly to you. But here's what I think is silly, the idea that jealousy or fidelity is reserved for romance. I always suspected that there was a connection between you and that man. That you got something you didn't get from me. Alan Shore:
I probably do. But gosh, what I get from you, Denny. People walk around today calling everyone their best friend. The term doesn't have any real meaning anymore. Mere acquaintances are lavished with hugs and kisses upon a second or at most third meeting, birthday cards get passed around offices so everybody can scribble a snippet of sentimentality for a colleague they barely met, and everyone just loves everyone. As a result, when you tell somebody you love them today, it isn't much heard. I love you, Denny; you are my best friend. I can't imagine going through life without you as my best friend. I'm not going to kiss you, however

DON'T TALK TO ME
00:00:03.536 --> 00:00:05.871
IT'S NOT LIKE I WENT FISHING WITH HIM
00:00:05.905 --> 00:00:07.973
AND DON'T MAKE FUN OF ME
00:00:11.744 --> 00:00:14.013
I DON'T KNOW WHETHER YOU KNOW THIS
00:00:14.999 --> 00:00:15.948
NOT MANY MEN
00:00:15.981 --> 00:00:18.584
TAKE THE TIME
00:00:18.618 --> 00:00:22.688
EVERY DAY TO HAVE A CIGAR
00:00:22.722 --> 00:00:25.019
A GLASS OF SCOTCH
00:00:25.224 --> 00:00:27.066
TO TALK TO THEIR BEST FRIEND
00:00:27.693 --> 00:00:31.731
THAT'S NOT SOMETHING MOST MEN HAVE
00:00:31.764 --> 00:00:33.633
NO IT ISN'T
00:00:39.839 --> 00:00:42.207
WHAT I GIVE TO YOU
00:00:42.241 --> 00:00:44.071
WHAT WHAT I SHARE I DO WITH NO ONE ELSE
00:00:44.744 --> 00:00:47.012
I LIKE TO THINK WHAT YOU GIVE TO ME
00:00:47.999 --> 00:00:48.848
YOU DO WITH NOBODY ELSE
00:00:48.881 --> 00:00:50.085
NOW THAT THAT MAY SOUND SILLY TO YOU
00:00:50.883 --> 00:00:53.753
BUT HERE'S WHAT I THINK IS SILLY
00:00:53.786 --> 00:00:57.557
THE IDEA THAT JEALOUSY OR FIDELITY
00:00:57.059 --> 00:00:59.124
IS RESERVED FOR ROMANCE
00:00:59.158 --> 00:01:01.661
I ALWAYS SUSPECTED THAT
00:01:01.694 --> 00:01:04.964
THERE WAS A CONNECTION BETWEEN YOU AND THAT MAN
00:01:04.997 --> 00:01:07.996
THAT YOU GOT SOMETHING
00:01:07.003 --> 00:01:09.999
YOU DIDN'T GET FROM ME
00:01:09.999 --> 00:01:12.999
I PROBABLY DO
00:01:15.001 --> 00:01:17.001
BUT GOSH
00:01:17.577 --> 00:01:20.646
WHAT I GET FROM YOU DENNY
00:01:26.986 --> 00:01:29.789
PEOPLE WALK AROUND TODAY
00:01:29.822 --> 00:01:32.758
CALLING EVERYONE THEIR BEST FRIEND
00:01:34.827 --> 00:01:36.929
THE TERM DOESN'T HAVE
00:01:36.962 --> 00:01:38.998
ANY REAL MEANING ANYMORE
00:01:39.006 --> 00:01:42.999
MERE ACQUAINTANCES ARE LAVISHED WITH HUGS
00:01:42.999 --> 00:01:46.999
AND KISSES UPON A SECOND OR AT MOST THIRD MEETING
00:01:47.002 --> 00:01:49.997
BIRTHDAY CARDS GET
00:01:49.998 --> 00:01:50.943
PASSED AROUND OFFICES
00:01:50.976 --> 00:01:54.999
SO EVERYBODY CAN SCRIBBLE A SNIPPET OF SENTIMENTALITY
00:01:54.246 --> 00:01:57.001
FOR A COLLEAGUE THEY'VE BARELY MET
00:01:57.717 --> 00:02:02.121
AND EVERYONE JUST LOVES EVERYONE
00:02:02.154 --> 00:02:03.999
AS A RESULT
00:02:03.889 --> 00:02:06.999
WHEN YOU TELL SOMEBODY YOU LOVE THEM TODAY
00:02:06.892 --> 00:02:10.001
IT ISN'T MUCH HEARD
00:02:13.999 --> 00:02:17.001
I LOVE YOU DENNY
00:02:17.988 --> 00:02:20.999
YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND
00:02:20.572 --> 00:02:23.643
I CAN'T IMAGINE
00:02:23.999 --> 00:02:27.001
GOING THROUGH LIFE WITHOUT YOU
00:02:27.999 --> 00:02:31.001
AS MY BEST FRIEND
00:02:38.059 --> 00:02:40.001
I'M NOT GONNA KISS YOU HOWEVER
