what it means to be young and a teenager
and having my own troubles and seeing it reflected
in the screen. That was extremely powerful. When these movies came out,
the parents were really pushed to the back. We were seeing friendship
being treated in the same kind of heady, exciting,
sweeping, cinematic way that normally had just been
reserved for romantic love
