John Coltrane recordings, quote-unquote, come from 1946 when he's a part of a Navy band
and they do this recording in Hawaii, and they're playing Bird tunes, and you can hear
this very young John Coltrane, uh... playing and imitating the style
of Charlie Parker, his hero
