by the end of 1966 and into '67 that Coltrane wasn't doing well. His sidemen later would report
that he was holding his side like he was in pain. And sure enough, he was later
diagnosed with liver cancer. [Fuji] At first when Coltrane died,
I think it was just shock. I mean he was only 40,
and he hadn't been ill for a long time
