instead of going to school. So he had a wee grey Thames van at
the time and I quickly learned he kept a big coat in there so
I would get into the back of the van before he would have his breakfast
finished, hide underneath the coat, and then, halfway to work,
I'd jump up and say, "Surprise, I'm going
with you to work, Dad." But that didn't work, for he would
turn around in the car on the road and take me back to me
Mum. And I got me legs slapped. But I quickly worked out not to jump
up from underneath the coat until we got to Glenarm. It was too far for him then to
turn round and take me home again
