It's April, a month into lockdown, and a warm, dry spring has turned
the Glens into a riot of colour. At Tiveragh View Allotments
in Cushendall, there are potatoes to be planted. They will be harvested in autumn,
as they have been since Margaret McKillop
set up the allotments with other Cairns estate residents
seven years ago. When we first got locked down, obviously, you only had an hour
to come out and socialise, so most people were using their
hour to come up to the allotments. When we started the project, it was
more to bring the community together and, you know, to help with
the mental health side. We never perceived that we would be
standing here in the middle of a pandemic but thankfully, we've
had this space to enjoy through it

It's April, a month into lockdown,
00:00:03.096 --> 00:00:08.056
and a warm, dry spring has turned
the Glens into a riot of colour.
00:00:09.088 --> 00:00:13.159
At Tiveragh View Allotments
in Cushendall,
00:00:13.159 --> 00:00:15.399
there are potatoes to be planted.
00:00:15.399 --> 00:00:18.044
They will be harvested in autumn,
as they have been
00:00:18.044 --> 00:00:20.088
since Margaret McKillop
set up the allotments
00:00:20.088 --> 00:00:23.068
with other Cairns estate residents
seven years ago.
00:00:24.088 --> 00:00:26.064
When we first got locked down,
00:00:26.064 --> 00:00:30.048
obviously, you only had an hour
to come out and socialise,
00:00:30.048 --> 00:00:33.068
so most people were using their
hour to come up to the allotments.
00:00:35.084 --> 00:00:40.096
When we started the project, it was
more to bring the community together
00:00:40.096 --> 00:00:44.036
and, you know, to help with
the mental health side.
00:00:44.036 --> 00:00:48.000
We never perceived that we would be
standing here in the middle
00:00:48.000 --> 00:00:53.032
of a pandemic but thankfully, we've
had this space to enjoy through it.
