We're doing a peg loom
weaving course. It's women in the community who are
learning to do something that gives them a process
but also a product. Right, so what you've got now... It's not very common -
most people, when they think of weaving,
think of a proper frame and the shuttle that goes in
and out, whereas this is the other way around, we make the fabric
and then pull the warp through. I'm actually making a representation
of parts of Glenravel, to show the mountainous area and
the heather, the sheep, the peat, the rushes and
all the different types of lichens and sphagnum mosses and so on
that you would see up there. I love the winter, because I love the dark nights
and the opportunity it gives you to stay at home and to nest
and to make and create and to restore yourself
and your energies

We're doing a peg loom
weaving course.
00:00:03.002 --> 00:00:06.008
It's women in the community who are
learning to do something
00:00:06.008 --> 00:00:08.068
that gives them a process
but also a product.
00:00:08.068 --> 00:00:10.096
Right, so what you've got now...
00:00:10.096 --> 00:00:12.092
It's not very common -
most people,
00:00:12.092 --> 00:00:15.036
when they think of weaving,
think of a proper frame
00:00:15.036 --> 00:00:18.004
and the shuttle that goes in
and out, whereas this is the other
00:00:18.004 --> 00:00:22.012
way around, we make the fabric
and then pull the warp through.
00:00:22.012 --> 00:00:25.006
I'm actually making a representation
of parts of Glenravel,
00:00:25.006 --> 00:00:31.024
to show the mountainous area and
the heather, the sheep,
00:00:31.024 --> 00:00:36.012
the peat, the rushes and
all the different types of lichens
00:00:36.012 --> 00:00:40.052
and sphagnum mosses and so on
that you would see up there.
00:00:40.052 --> 00:00:41.072
I love the winter,
00:00:41.072 --> 00:00:44.048
because I love the dark nights
and the opportunity it gives you
00:00:44.048 --> 00:00:46.008
to stay at home and to nest
and to make and create
00:00:46.008 --> 00:00:50.068
and to restore yourself
and your energies.
