to counts of fraud, theft, and conspiracy and was ordered to give up
control of Action Park, which was partially
on state land. But to Gene,
that would not do. So he came up
with yet another scheme. He decided to become
the worst tenant he could. He stopped paying bills
and filing paperwork. He basically did
everything he could to antagonize
his landlord state. - The SCI
accusing Vernon Valley of "arrogantly violating
its agreement with the state to lease land
for the ski resort." Vernon Valley
allegedly diverted funds to avoid paying the state several hundred thousand
dollars in rent. The SCI probe also disclosed
Vernon Valley created a phony
insurance company to avoid premium payments and changed the terrain
of the ski resort without obtaining permission
