It's an auto-dialler. Old school. Calls people, punts out pre-recorded
messages, timeshares, pensions. Gets them to call a different number
back. It hooks them in. The guy in there doesn't know
he's involved. He's just an old guy.
He's not all there. Once you call that different number
back, there's someone waiting
for you to give up your details. Then the fraudster calls you back,
pretending to be
whoever he needs to be. If anyone tries to trace
that first number,
all they'll find is this old fella. He told me
a nice man pays all the bills,
so long as the box stays there. So...who's the nice man?
