from generation to generation, the same familiar
pattern recur; of growth, maturity
and death. And then, one day, man used his hand
to fashion the tool. And, from the first moment
he used that tool, he changed
the pattern of change. No longer regular,
repeated, the new tool brought
permanent change, till the new world
it had created was changed again
by the next innovation. And, as man's abilities grew,
his world changed faster
from generation to generation, the same familiar
pattern recur; of growth, maturity
and death. And then, one day, man used his hand
