Carlos Alomar: In a way, David was also very clever. That simplicity aspect, I think, is very, very important. I mean, his love for the Velvet Underground and the whole Lou Reed thing, and the simplicity of "Waiting for the Man". 'Waiting for the man.' That same pulsation, 'I was walking... ' is exactly the same. 'Waiting for the man'. Two chords. I mean, "Fame" - is three chords. And so this simplicity is amazing. And its totally relevant. *But*, the Velvet Underground was cool. There's nothing cool about "The Laughing Gnome."

In a way David is also very clever
00:00:04.084 --> 00:00:07.584
A simplicity aspect I think is very very important
00:00:07.584 --> 00:00:11.075
I mean his love for the Velvet Underground and the whole Lou Reed thing
00:00:11.075 --> 00:00:13.834
and the simplicity of Waiting For the Man
00:00:16.209 --> 00:00:18.376
Waiting for the man
00:00:18.376 --> 00:00:20.418
That same pulsation
00:00:20.418 --> 00:00:22.251
I was walking
00:00:27.543 --> 00:00:28.792
It's exactly the same
00:00:31.418 --> 00:00:33.418
Waiting for the man
00:00:33.418 --> 00:00:38.002
Two chords I mean Fame is three chords
00:00:38.002 --> 00:00:41.292
And so this simplicity is amazing
00:00:41.292 --> 00:00:43.209
And it's totally relevant
00:00:43.209 --> 00:00:45.000
But
00:00:45.000 --> 00:00:47.376
the Velvet Underground was cool
00:00:47.376 --> 00:00:51.002
There's nothing cool about The Laughing Gnome
