[narrator] From the 1960s,
Redbank's malt was stored in this 4,000-ton bank
of concrete silos. {\an8}The structure might look
like a simple piece
of engineering, but like all silos,
it had to withstand
the pressure but like all silos,
it had to withstand
the pressure of thousands of tons of crops
or other materials pushing against the walls
from the inside. [narrator]
By 2013, the industry
had moved elsewhere and the silos stood
unused and empty. The land was to be sold
for a warehouse development and the structure was slated
for demolition. For silo worker,
Bryan Verrall,
it was the end of an era. I worked there
for about 20 years
