The witness' failure
to identify the shooter highlights a major challenge
detectives are facing. Sadly, there is an
anti-snitching mentality for witnesses, and a lot of that
probably is out of fear that they've got to
live with the people that may have been
involved in the incident. I understand the
very real danger that people may feel if
they do talk about cases, but in this particular case, it was so frustrating to see
the number of people out, and nobody saw anything who could really
tell us where to go. In the face of
community silence, Lamont's family
decides to speak out. The neighborhood didn't talk,
so we got together as a family, and we're like, "Well, we need
to go up there and protest." We walked from the street
where he was murdered all the way down
to the rec center. What do we want? All: Justice!

The witness' failure
to identify the shooter
00:00:04.045 --> 00:00:08.295
highlights a major challenge
detectives are facing.
00:00:08.299 --> 00:00:11.799
Sadly, there is an
anti-snitching mentality
00:00:11.802 --> 00:00:12.969
for witnesses,
00:00:12.097 --> 00:00:15.014
and a lot of that
probably is out of fear
00:00:15.141 --> 00:00:16.939
that they've got to
live with the people
00:00:16.094 --> 00:00:20.643
that may have been
involved in the incident.
00:00:20.645 --> 00:00:22.315
I understand the
very real danger
00:00:22.316 --> 00:00:26.523
that people may feel if
they do talk about cases,
00:00:26.526 --> 00:00:28.999
but in this particular case,
00:00:28.999 --> 00:00:31.319
it was so frustrating to see
the number of people out,
00:00:31.322 --> 00:00:32.662
and nobody saw anything
00:00:32.663 --> 00:00:36.157
who could really
tell us where to go.
00:00:36.016 --> 00:00:38.828
In the face of
community silence,
00:00:38.829 --> 00:00:42.958
Lamont's family
decides to speak out.
00:00:42.959 --> 00:00:45.879
The neighborhood didn't talk,
so we got together as a family,
00:00:45.088 --> 00:00:48.878
and we're like, "Well, we need
to go up there and protest."
00:00:48.881 --> 00:00:51.174
We walked from the street
where he was murdered
00:00:51.175 --> 00:00:52.715
all the way down
to the rec center.
00:00:52.718 --> 00:00:54.556
