a Virginian. ‐ Lee was offered
the command of the Union army and, of course,
did some deep thinking and then decided
that his allegiance was to the South and Virginia. [dramatic music] ‐ Ulysses S. Grant,
however, starts the Civil War
as a nobody, but he gets a big break
when the governor of Illinois appoints him as commander of
one of the Illinois regiments, and that will start
his military career again
