the passing of Merritt King. Merritt King was the epitome of Black excellence
in our community. He formed coalitions, registered voters,
sought alliances, and encouraged
the Black community to always recognize
that our collective voice is more powerful
than any one of us. Merritt King worked
outside the system in order to change the system. We are very proud
of all that he accomplished. So let us light a candle
as we leave and pray for his soul and for all the souls
he left behind. Let us pray. [organ playing]
