James Allen:
No one seems to realize that I've changed! That I'm different now. I've been through hell! Folks here are concerned with my uniform, how I dance. I'm out of step with everybody. And all this while I was hoping to come home and start a new life, to be free, and again I find myself under orders. A drab routine, cramped, mechanical. Even worse than the Army. And you, all of you, trying your darnedest to map out my future, to harness me and lead me around to do what you think is best for me. It doesn't occur to you that I've grown! That I've learned life is more important than a medal on my chest or a stupid, insignificant job

You don't seem to realize...
00:00:03.000 --> 00:00:05.009
No one seems to realize
that I've changed.
00:00:05.969 --> 00:00:07.369
I'm different.
00:00:07.437 --> 00:00:10.472
I've been through hell!
00:00:10.054 --> 00:00:13.942
Folks here are concerned
with my uniform, how I dance.
00:00:14.999 --> 00:00:16.611
I'm out of step.
00:00:16.068 --> 00:00:18.279
All the while, I was hoping
00:00:18.348 --> 00:00:21.001
to start a new life, to be free.
00:00:21.151 --> 00:00:22.817
Again I find myself
under orders,
00:00:22.886 --> 00:00:26.788
a drab routine, mechanical...
Even worse than the army!
00:00:26.857 --> 00:00:28.323
And you, all of you,
00:00:28.392 --> 00:00:31.826
trying to map out my future,
to lead me around
00:00:31.895 --> 00:00:35.093
to do what you think
is best for me.
00:00:35.999 --> 00:00:38.001
I've grown.
00:00:38.101 --> 00:00:40.702
I've learned life
is more important than a medal
00:00:40.771 --> 00:00:42.904
or an insignificant job.
00:00:42.973 --> 00:00:46.141
Appreciation... why, you've...
00:00:46.209 --> 00:00:48.476
What would you do, son?
00:00:48.545 --> 00:00:49.545
Where would you go?
00:00:49.613 --> 00:00:53.148
Anywhere, mom,
where I can do
what I want.
00:00:53.216 --> 00:00:55.617
If that's really in your heart,
00:00:55.685 --> 00:00:58.082
I think you certainly
should follow it.
00:00:58.889 --> 00:01:00.121
I knew you'd understand.
00:01:00.019 --> 00:01:02.039
He'll be leaving us again.
00:01:02.459 --> 00:01:05.827
That doesn't matter.
00:01:05.896 --> 00:01:07.001
He should be happy.
00:01:07.023 --> 00:01:09.164
He's got to find himself.
00:01:09.232 --> 00:01:10.965
You're a peach, mom.
00:01:11.006 --> 00:01:12.001
Listen, mom.
00:01:12.999 --> 00:01:15.001
There's a lot
of construction
in new england.
00:01:27.884 --> 00:01:29.717
Hey, Allen.
00:01:29.786 --> 00:01:31.319
Allen!
00:01:31.001 --> 00:01:32.022
Calling me?
00:01:32.289 --> 00:01:35.019
I want to see you.
00:01:40.002 --> 00:01:42.002
It's bad news for you.
00:01:42.001 --> 00:01:44.532
The new men have to go.
00:01:44.601 --> 00:01:46.401
Sorry.
00:01:46.047 --> 00:01:48.636
All right.
