and they all blamed me for it. The terrible rumors about me
had reached them. I tried to tell them
that it was all lies... ...and what I was actually fighting
for, but they didn't believe me. They didn't care. All that mattered
was that I had disgraced them. I knew that if my mom didn't
survive, it would be on my head. And then they showed me a young
man who wanted to go to America. Who needed money and papers. And my family wanted me as far
away from them as possible
