Early on in the development of the movie, I wanted New Mushroomton
to be based on Clawson. Once we started
actually designing New Mushroomton, a lot of the artists at Pixar started to
look at reference of Clawson. They said, "It's really quaint. "It's really nice
and magical in its own way." So, over time we made New Mushroomton
a little bit more of a modern city
to be based on Clawson. Once we started
