to sift through stories to find subtext that explained why Black characters
hovered in the margins. They now inhabited center frame
by natural right. And at a time
when the only mainstream movie hero was Bond, James Bond, who, in 1973, saw Roger Moore's 007
go nose-to-false-nose with the series' first
