gladiators prepare to battle against the rugged obstacles of the lower
Californian peninsula. It is a race, but the course
resembles a labyrinth designed by the Devil himself. NARRATOR: Ford was bringing an as yet unnamed vehicle
to the race in Baja, and they wanted to win. ‐ After World War II, both Jeep
and International Harvester introduced a utility vehicle, but it was kinda like riding
around in a tumble dryer. Ford had the idea to design
a sport utility vehicle, one that could go to
the grocery store one minute and off‐road the next, and they figured that Baja
would be the perfect place for them to test it out
