The prison system did not
like the fact that John Gacy was making money.
He also had 900 number where people could call in
and listen to his voice, and he would tell them
that he was actually innocent and that they were going
to execute an innocent man, but he made money on that,
as well, and the law in Illinois says that if an inmate can pay
for his incarceration, the inmate has to pay it,
so they were suing Gacy for basically
his room and board
like the fact that John Gacy was making money.
