STANLEY:
I remember,
when I was makingSpartacus , the cameraman, Russ Metty,
used to think it was very funny that I used to pick set-ups
with a view finder, and he said to me, "We are shooting
in that direction and it's a knee figure shot and just, you know,
go and rehearse with the actors and when you come back we'll have the shot
and the set-up and everything" He couldn't understand why I wanted to waste time
making a composition

I remember,
when I was makingSpartacus ,
00:00:03.306 --> 00:00:07.354
the cameraman, Russ Metty,
used to think it was very funny
00:00:07.484 --> 00:00:09.747
that I used to pick set-ups
with a view finder,
00:00:09.878 --> 00:00:11.749
and he said to me,
00:00:11.088 --> 00:00:12.968
"We are shooting
in that direction
00:00:13.099 --> 00:00:14.578
and it's a knee figure shot
00:00:14.709 --> 00:00:16.798
and just, you know,
go and rehearse with the actors
00:00:16.928 --> 00:00:18.234
and when you come back
00:00:18.365 --> 00:00:19.975
we'll have the shot
and the set-up and everything"
00:00:22.586 --> 00:00:23.805
He couldn't understand
00:00:23.935 --> 00:00:25.981
why I wanted to waste time
making a composition.
