I've written the songs with just slightly
different melodies than I would normally do, but the chords are gonna be
way different. I want sophisticated
jazz chords, but I don't want it
to sound unrelatable. So I want to marry
a melody that's relatable with the sophistication
of the '50s and '60s jazz. And that was my challenge. Can I do that,
or is it just gonna sound off? One of the songs
on the record is, and hopefully, is gonna be
a virtual duet with Stan Getz

I've written the songs
00:00:02.025 --> 00:00:04.334
with just slightly
different melodies
00:00:04.417 --> 00:00:05.876
than I would normally do,
00:00:05.959 --> 00:00:07.918
but the chords are gonna be
way different.
00:00:08.000 --> 00:00:12.083
I want sophisticated
jazz chords,
00:00:12.167 --> 00:00:15.417
but I don't want it
to sound unrelatable.
00:00:15.005 --> 00:00:18.005
So I want to marry
a melody that's relatable
00:00:18.584 --> 00:00:22.959
with the sophistication
of the '50s and '60s jazz.
00:00:23.876 --> 00:00:24.918
And that was my challenge.
00:00:25.000 --> 00:00:27.709
Can I do that,
or is it just gonna sound off?
00:00:29.000 --> 00:00:31.125
One of the songs
on the record is,
00:00:31.209 --> 00:00:35.998
and hopefully, is gonna be
a virtual duet with Stan Getz.
