aerial scanning method that uses pulses of laser light
to measure the ground and create
a 3D map of the earth. First developed by
the American government, LiDAR burst onto the world stage during the 1971 Apollo 15
lunar mission when astronauts used it to map
the surface of the moon. Now the team hopes
the same technology can help them scan the mountain and reveal additional
