I entered their home. This print was lying
on the floor with the nail prints
of the German boots on it, and in his studio, everything was turned
upside down. I took home 200 prints. These things
cannot be forgotten, taken away
in the middle of the night. And every now and then,
the image looms up before me like a nightmare. When in the night escaped
from the narcosis of sleep, my opened eyes stare into unfathomable depths
of darkness, the birds of despair
come flying on slow wings
