Ken Kesey:
What it meant, was that everybody had to consider a new way for things to be. Don't you know that we're all one? The deeper I got into it, the more I realized it was a different force working. The only big mistake we made, as a force, was thinking for a while that we were going to win. We developed vested interests in the victory to come. We begin to parcel off into little groups, whether it's feminism or politics. For money, religion, whatever it is; everybody is jumping up and down in front of it. Until nobody can see it clear anymore. There's something about what we're doing; is that we're meant to lose, every time. You make these forays, you write these books and you perform this music; but the big juggernaut of civilization continues, and you get kind of brushed to the side. But, I think all through history there's been these kind of divine losers that just take a deep breath and go ahead, knowing that society's not going to understand it. Not even caring, 'cause they're having a good time

What it meant
00:00:02.006 --> 00:00:05.005
was that everybody had to consider
00:00:05.005 --> 00:00:07.008
a new way for things to be
00:00:09.667 --> 00:00:12.299
Don't you know that we're all one
00:00:14.533 --> 00:00:16.667
The deeper I got into it
00:00:16.667 --> 00:00:20.000
the more I realized it was a different force working
00:00:22.433 --> 00:00:25.007
The only big mistake we ever made as a force
00:00:25.007 --> 00:00:29.633
was thinking for a while that we were going to win
00:00:29.633 --> 00:00:33.767
We developed vested interests in the victory to come
00:00:33.767 --> 00:00:36.008
We begin to parcel off into little groups
00:00:36.008 --> 00:00:39.007
whether it's feminism or politics
00:00:39.007 --> 00:00:41.433
for money religion
00:00:41.433 --> 00:00:42.767
Whatever it is
00:00:42.767 --> 00:00:45.733
everybody is jumping up and down in front of it
00:00:45.733 --> 00:00:48.199
until nobody can see it clear anymore
00:00:51.000 --> 00:00:53.633
Now if we'd never made that mistake
00:00:53.633 --> 00:00:54.967
we'd been way ahead
00:00:54.967 --> 00:00:58.233
and this is kind of why I'm retiring from the ranks
00:01:03.067 --> 00:01:07.867
Something about what we're doing is that we're meant to lose
00:01:07.867 --> 00:01:09.199
Every time
