Around the same time, I'd also been having
this conversation with my parents in which they would look
at my art and ask me, "Why do you draw
so many white characters?" Like, a lot of my characters were pale,
and this is something that I've actually talked
with other artists of color 'cause we all have experienced
this same phenomenon where when we dream up
our own stories as children, at least, those characters are often white or,
you know, light-skinned
