Where are we now? We're three miles from the pole. We'll be there in one minute. What are the chances
of getting down? I'd say they're pretty good.
By the pole? Yeah, well, we can probably land
within at least... ..above or right at the pole. They said to me, "The guys will fly, "but we can't land
till the sun comes out." And I remember saying, "Oh, it
doesn't matter about the weather. "Let's just get this over with!" They said, "No, it does matter
about the weather because the sun "will be shining down and
it will reveal any ridges." A lot of these ice flows had ridges which can just flip a plane
over just like that. I can remember sitting up in that
plane and thinking this was stupid. This WAS stupid
of getting down? I'd say they're pretty good.
