and Rachel's on call. Her first visit of the night
is to John Fleming's cattle farm, where a cow is having trouble
calving. Two feet and head... They're all there
and in the right position, so it's just a matter of if the calf's going to be small
enough to come out the back. The late spring has kept the cows
inside, feeding on rich silage. And some calves are unusually big... Look at that cow.
Looks like it might be tight. ..making it harder for the mothers
to deliver naturally. Right. Give us a jack up against
her there. The calf is in danger of getting stuck in the
delivery canal and suffocating. The jack will help Rachel
pull the calf out, but it needs to happen fast. That's not going to come out
the back
