another SETI station in Green Bank, West Virginia. in Green Bank, West Virginia. So, having this device,
which we called a "FUDD,"
Follow Up Detection Device, was the key for being able
to quickly scan the skies and excise any
radio frequency interference. If you watch the movie,

of a signal, Jodie Foster kisses the screen
and says, "Thank you, Elmer." And of course, the software
that ran the FUDD
was named Elmer
