Do you want to stop for a moment?
Och, aye, I'm OK. I mean, torture would terrify me. I don't know how I would
respond under torture... ..but I could see that I'd probably
end up being the person that was going to get tortured. The number of times we heard
from shop stewards and politically active people, "That could have been us,
we would have been the ones there, "we would have been murdered, "we would have been tortured,"
you know? Just have disappeared. God knows what would've happened
to my family as well. It's people that are just doing
what we're doing, looking after their fellow man
and woman, children, trying to make a better life
for them. The exact same things
as we were doing then... ..at a time when the trade unions
were strong and were able to demand
things for the people... ..unlike now

Do you want to stop for a moment?
Och, aye, I'm OK.
00:00:05.008 --> 00:00:08.024
I mean, torture would terrify me.
00:00:08.024 --> 00:00:10.088
I don't know how I would
respond under torture...
00:00:12.999 --> 00:00:15.076
..but I could see that I'd probably
end up being the person
00:00:15.076 --> 00:00:17.076
that was going to get tortured.
00:00:17.076 --> 00:00:22.000
The number of times we heard
from shop stewards
00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:23.084
and politically active people,
00:00:23.084 --> 00:00:27.016
"That could have been us,
we would have been the ones there,
00:00:27.016 --> 00:00:28.088
"we would have been murdered,
00:00:28.088 --> 00:00:31.000
"we would have been tortured,"
you know?
00:00:32.006 --> 00:00:34.998
Just have disappeared.
00:00:34.998 --> 00:00:36.076
God knows what would've happened
to my family as well.
00:00:37.072 --> 00:00:39.084
It's people that are just doing
what we're doing,
00:00:39.084 --> 00:00:44.052
looking after their fellow man
and woman, children,
00:00:44.052 --> 00:00:46.056
trying to make a better life
for them.
00:00:46.056 --> 00:00:49.056
The exact same things
as we were doing then...
00:00:50.092 --> 00:00:54.999
..at a time when the trade unions
were strong
00:00:54.999 --> 00:00:56.088
and were able to demand
things for the people...
00:00:58.032 --> 00:00:59.036
..unlike now.
