this effort today. When I did finally learn
about the demonstrations, I was around the same age
as the protestors. I saw myself in them. (protestors continue singing) There was so much hope,
so much idealism. It was a moment
when the possibility of democracy in China
felt most palpable. (gunfire and explosions)
