Christian:
Once they were gone, all we had left to do was live. And the first thing we did was - two hours later - we celebrated the Christmas vigil and mass. It's what we had to do. It's what we did. And we sang the mass. We welcomed that child who was born for us absolutely helpless and already so threatened. Afterwards, we found salvation in undertaking our daily tasks: The kitchen, the garden, the prayers, the bells. Day after day, we had to resist the violence. And day after day, I think each of us discovered that to which Jesus Christ beckons us: It's to be born. Our identities as men go from one birth to another. And from birth to birth, we'll each end up bringing to the world the child of God that we are. The incarnation, for us, is to allow the filial reality of Jesus to embody itself in our humanity. The mystery of incarnation remains what we are going to live. In this way, what we've already lived here takes root as well as what we're going to live in the future

Once they were gone...
00:00:06.159 --> 00:00:09.157
...all we had left to do was to live.
00:00:10.982 --> 00:00:12.667
And the first thing we did...
00:00:13.104 --> 00:00:14.127
...was...
00:00:16.189 --> 00:00:17.681
...two hours later.
00:00:18.045 --> 00:00:22.184
We celebrated
the Christmas Vigil and Mass.
00:00:23.213 --> 00:00:24.828
It's what we had to do.
00:00:26.999 --> 00:00:27.349
It's what we did.
00:00:28.075 --> 00:00:30.688
And we sang the Mass.
00:00:31.083 --> 00:00:36.313
We welcomed that child
who was born for us...
00:00:38.999 --> 00:00:40.024
...absolutely helpless and...
00:00:42.175 --> 00:00:43.986
...and already so threatened.
00:00:48.283 --> 00:00:49.534
Afterwards...
00:00:50.998 --> 00:00:54.551
...we found salvation
in undertaking our daily tasks.
00:00:56.363 --> 00:00:57.617
The kitchen...
00:00:57.943 --> 00:00:59.001
...garden...
00:00:59.414 --> 00:01:01.005
...the prayers, the bells.
00:01:01.836 --> 00:01:03.563
Day after day.
00:01:07.946 --> 00:01:10.999
We had to resist the violence.
00:01:13.601 --> 00:01:15.431
And day after day, I...
00:01:16.717 --> 00:01:19.999
I think each of us...
00:01:19.646 --> 00:01:21.002
...discovered...
00:01:21.423 --> 00:01:24.005
...that to which Jesus Christ...
00:01:25.997 --> 00:01:26.124
...beckons us.
00:01:27.999 --> 00:01:28.999
It's...
00:01:30.999 --> 00:01:31.031
...to be born.
00:01:32.999 --> 00:01:34.492
Our identities as men...
00:01:34.999 --> 00:01:36.916
...go from one birth to another.
00:01:37.999 --> 00:01:41.061
And from birth to birth,
we'll each end up...
00:01:42.117 --> 00:01:45.001
...bringing to the world
the child of God that we are.
00:01:45.999 --> 00:01:47.001
The Incarnation, for us...
00:01:48.125 --> 00:01:50.886
...is to allow
the filial reality of Jesus...
00:01:51.381 --> 00:01:53.717
...to embody itself in our humanity.
00:01:56.748 --> 00:01:59.001
The mistery of Incarnation remains...
00:02:01.999 --> 00:02:03.494
...what we are going to live.
00:02:04.623 --> 00:02:09.999
In this way what we've already
lived here takes root...
00:02:10.352 --> 00:02:11.001
...as well as...
00:02:11.999 --> 00:02:13.999
...what we're going to live...
00:02:14.196 --> 00:02:15.001
...in the future.
00:02:16.001 --> 00:02:20.529
Whoever tries to save his life
shall lose it...
00:02:22.095 --> 00:02:24.001
...and whoever shall lose it,
preserves it.
00:02:27.001 --> 00:02:28.357
I tell you...
00:02:28.768 --> 00:02:32.861
...on that night,
two people shall be in one bed.
00:02:32.404 --> 00:02:36.999
One shall be taken, the other left.
00:02:36.999 --> 00:02:39.887
Two women shall
be grinding grain together.
00:02:40.001 --> 00:02:41.999
One shall be taken...
00:02:42.239 --> 00:02:43.947
...the other left.
00:02:44.001 --> 00:02:46.999
The disciples asked him:
00:02:47.011 --> 00:02:48.999
"Where, Lord?"
00:02:49.001 --> 00:02:51.012
He answered:
00:02:51.999 --> 00:02:53.001
"Where there is a body...
00:02:53.999 --> 00:02:56.999
"...there too
the vultures shall gather."
