My journey to orthotropics
has not been a straight line. I was studying conventional orthodontics, and I came across John's philosophy. I have been trained through John, and I follow John's technique
very closely. One of the things that he answered for me
was why there is malocclusion, which is when the teeth
end up out of alignment and they grow crooked. Human beings, we've always had jaws
and teeth that are fairly evenly balanced and fairly straight. In the last 300 years,
that has really shifted. We live in a world today
where no one has straight teeth. And so how do we go from tens and tens and tens
of thousands of years where everything was perfect to one where every kid needs
some form of braces to get the teeth straight?
