The measure of love is what one is willing to give up for it. Who said that?

There is no line more true. On returning from Vancouver in our little sportscar, we were hit from behind. Losing control, we would hit the 'box' of a large semi. Everything above the dash would be sheared away. I held my wife below the dash knowing that I had no chance. Time slowed and I saw my death, but the car swerved and only her side was crushed and sheared away. It is odd that since then I have been unable to fear anything at all. Having died for love of my wife, how can I fear anything. "The measure of love . . . ."
