The feeling here today is one of outrage over this unprecedented terrorist attack on the Royal Family. And while no group has yet claimed credit, there is, among many here, speculation already of Irish Republican Army involvement. According to eyewitness accounts, Lord William Holmes, the Queen Mother's cousin, and Minister of State for Northern Ireland, along with his wife and son, would have most certainly been killed were it not for the heroic efforts of this man, John Patrick Ryan, the American tourist who broke up the assassination attempt. An author and professor at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, Ryan is a former Marine lieutenant.
