These buildings,
left exactly as they were on the day of reunification, provide a sombre reminder of
how Germany was sliced in half, and existed as two separate
countries for 45 years. This is the East German checkpoint,
which was manned, basically, by over 600 Stasi that were here. To get through to Berlin you go
through West German checkpoint, to the East German checkpoint, and the first checkpoint
was about 100 yards that way. And you used to give
your passport in
