This car is the RS 01, that is the first turbocharged
Formula 1 Grand Prix car ever. In 1977, F1 rules changed and
allowed teams to use turbocharges, a device which very simply forces
more air into an engine's combustion chamber,
creating more power. It was a relatively new technology
for cars, and Renault were the only team to
try harnessing it. They picked up the ball
and ran with it
